Juneteenth
(June 19th)
Officially Juneteenth National Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of
enslaved African-Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating
African-American culture.[Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been
celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since
1865. The day was recognized as a federal holiday on June 17, 2021, when
President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into
law. Juneteenth's commemoration is on the anniversary date of the June
19, 1865, announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger,
proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas, which was the last state
of the Confederacy with institutional slavery.
The Seneca Falls
Convention
(July 19-20)
The Seneca Falls Convention was the first women's rights convention. It
advertised itself as "a convention to discuss the social, civil, and
religious condition and rights of woman". Held in the Wesleyan Chapel of
the town of Seneca Falls, New York, it spanned two days over July 19–20, 1848.
Attracting widespread attention, it was soon followed by other women's rights
conventions, including the Rochester Women's Rights Convention in Rochester,
New York, two weeks later. In 1850 the first in a series of annual National
Women's Rights Conventions met in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Anniversary of Women Winning the Vote
(August 26th)

To honor and commemorate this historic event, Bella Abzug introduced a Congressional Resolution to ensure that this date would be commemorated with the designation of Women's Equality Day, which is celebrated on August 26th each year.
Anniversary of the Signing of the Constitution
National Constitution Day September 17th
On September 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created.
